Nepal defeated India 3–0 in a penalty shootout to win a friendly women’s football match held at the Palzor Stadium in Sikkim, India, on Tuesday.
The game, which ended 1–1 in regulation time, was decided in a dramatic tie-breaker where Sabita Ranamagar, Rashmi Kumari Ghising, and Nisha Thokar successfully converted their penalties for Nepal.
Goalkeeper Anjana Ranamagar was the star of the match, saving India’s first and third penalties, while the second Indian attempt missed the post.
Earlier in the match, Anita Basnet had scored for Nepal during extra time, while Soumya Guguloth netted for India in the 30th minute. With both sides unable to break the deadlock within 90 minutes, the contest was settled through penalties, giving Nepal a thrilling victory over the hosts.
