Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has been elected to the House of Representatives (HoR) from Rukum Purba.
According to the final results of the vote counting completed today, Prachanda secured 10,240 votes out of a total 19,188 votes cast, winning the election by a margin of 6,778 votes.
His closest rival, Leelamani Gautam of the CPN (UML), received 3,462 votes, while Kusum Devi Thapa of the Nepali Congress garnered 3,081 votes, said Chief Returning Officer Shiva Prasad Khanal.
A total of 19,188 votes were cast in the House of Representatives election held on March 5, out of 34,772 registered voters in the constituency.
