Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari has said that elections are the greatest mission in a democratic system, as each vote determines the nature of the political system, governance, leadership, and policies of a country.
Issuing an appeal on the occasion of the House of Representatives (HoR) Election-2026, Bhandari urged all eligible voters to actively participate in the electoral process and exercise their franchise.
He stated that all necessary preparations for conducting the election in a free, fair, and impartial manner have been completed despite the challenging circumstances following the youth uprising of September 8–9, 2025.
“Voters and votes are of the highest significance in an election. Casting a vote signifies approval of a candidate, system, or political party. All citizens who reach the eligible age under the Constitution and the law become voters, and every vote carries equal value,” he said, describing voting as an inalienable right of citizens.
Bhandari emphasised that voter participation reflects the highest level of political awareness, social responsibility, and civic engagement. He noted that when citizens register as voters with awareness and participate in elections as informed voters, it strengthens civic ownership of governance.
The Election Commission, he said, remains committed to ensuring that the elections are conducted with integrity and free from any undesirable activities.
Bhandari also expressed gratitude to political parties, candidates, voters, civil society, journalists, and media organisations for their support and cooperation in election management.
Stating that elections are the cornerstone of a representative governance system and ensure the people’s right to choose their representatives, he urged voters to visit their respective polling centres and cast their ballots with confidence.
