Saturday, 22 November 2025

A total of 837,094 new voters have registered their names in the voter list opened by the Election Commission (EC) following the announcement of fresh House of Representatives elections on September 12.

The voter registration window closed at midnight on Wednesday.

According to the EC, 344,914 new voters were registered through biometric enrollment at district and local-level offices, while 492,180 people registered online using their National ID details. The provision allowing voter registration through the National ID (introduced later) received an encouraging response.

Prime Minister Sushila Karki wrote on social media that the deadline for voter registration has officially concluded.

By November 2, the number of Nepali citizens who had reached 18 years of age stood at 18,168,023. The previous deadline for voter registration was November 16, but due to high demand and repeated requests from stakeholders, it was extended until November 21.
