The ruling CPN (UML) is set to begin its second statute convention today in Godawari, Lalitpur. The three-day conclave will be inaugurated by the Prime Minister and the party Chairman KP Sharma Oli.
According to UML Publicity Department Chief Rajendra Gautam, Chairman Oli will present the party’s political report under the theme: “A Decisive National Power is Our Resolution: Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali is Our Destination.”
The convention will also see Vice Chairman Bishnu Prasad Paudel presenting a proposal to amend the party statute, while General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel will table the organizational report.
In addition to the core reports, documents from the party’s Central Election Commission, Central Disciplinary Commission, Accounts Commission, and Central Advisory Council will also be presented. All reports will be reviewed and debated in designated discussion groups.
Dissent Note to Be Presented
A note of dissent registered by Standing Committee Member Karna Thapa during the Central Secretariat meeting on Thursday will also be formally presented during the convention.
Chairman Oli’s political report is expected to include a comprehensive analysis of national and international developments, current challenges, and the party's political direction and responsibilities moving forward.
Large-Scale Participation
The event will be attended by 2,026 representatives and 315 members of the organizing committee. This is the party’s second statute convention, with the first held in 2078 BS.
The party has adopted the slogan “A Decisive National Power is Our Resolution: Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali is Our Destination” as the official theme for the convention.
