Prime Minister Sushila Karki has called upon all political parties and citizens to regard the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election, scheduled for 21 Falgun (March 5), as a national ritual and to work collectively to make it a success.
In her Chhath festival greetings message released on Sunday, Prime Minister Karki said, “I call on all parties to embrace the upcoming election as a national ritual and to participate in and make it successful.”
The Prime Minister’s message comes in the wake of the Gen-Z movement, emphasizing the constitutional and moral responsibility to conduct the election on the announced date. She urged all political actors to understand the sensitivity of the current situation and to fulfill their respective duties in ensuring a peaceful and credible election.
“Street protests alone are not the solution to all problems,” the message reads. “Even if one has certain stances or grievances, presenting them peacefully to gain public support and having them approved through elections is the best practice of democracy.”
Extending her best wishes on the occasion of Chhath, one of the most significant festivals dedicated to the worship of the Sun, Prime Minister Karki expressed hope that the celebration would foster social harmony and national unity.
She stated, “I sincerely hope that the worship of the Sun God and the blessings of Mother Chhathi will inspire all of us to protect our constitutional achievements and move forward toward building a prosperous, inclusive, and well-governed Nepal.”
