The Nepal Communist Party (Biplab-led) has urged the government to demonetise all Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 banknotes to curb corruption and introduce new currency notes in circulation.
Announcing the 17-point decisions of the party’s recent central committee meeting on Sunday, the party stated that the move would help reduce financial irregularities and promote transparency in the country’s economy.
The party has also decided to establish industries under an integrated ownership model to boost agricultural productivity, reiterating its long-standing emphasis on strengthening the agricultural sector. It expressed optimism about achieving better yields from this monsoon’s crops.
At a news conference in Kathmandu, party General Secretary Netra Bikram Chand (Biplab) said that the Nepal Communist Party is holding talks with the CPN (Maoist Centre) and other communist forces to form a new communist centre in the aftermath of the recent Gen-Z protests.
“The communist movement cannot move forward in an old-fashioned way. Talks with the Maoist Centre were initiated to promote fresh debates and ideas,” Biplab stated.
According to the party, the unification of communist forces and the formation of a new communist centre have become necessary in the changing political context following the Gen-Z movement.
