Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that all state resources will be mobilized to protect citizens from risks arising from the ongoing heavy rainfall across the country.
In a video message addressed to the nation today, Prime Minister Karki stated that in view of the continuous heavy rain since the evening of October 3, all relevant state agencies have been deployed for rescue, relief, and safety operations. She urged everyone to follow official safety instructions and remain cautious.
The Prime Minister also appealed to citizens to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary movement, as the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast continued heavy rainfall for the next two days.
“We are at high risk of floods, landslides, and erosion, with landslide threats in many areas. Government agencies are working around the clock with strong morale for rescue and relief. Highways and other critical infrastructure are being closely monitored. Stay where you are and inspire others to stay safe. Do not travel unless necessary, and always prioritize safety after assessing the risks,” PM Karki said.
She further mentioned that, considering the adverse weather conditions, the government has declared a public holiday on Sunday and Monday nationwide. The Prime Minister also urged citizens to act according to the instructions issued by the police and other government authorities.
