The Government of Nepal has announced preparations to observe Constitution Day and National Day 2082 BS this Friday, September 19. The main event will take place at the Army Pavilion in Tundikhel, with President Ramchandra Paudel attending as the Chief Guest.
Prime Minister Sushila Karki is scheduled to deliver an address during the ceremony, according to Joint Secretary Rhishi Ram Tiwari of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The celebration is being organized with consideration for the current political context in the country.
The previous government had formed the Constitution Day and National Day 2082 Celebration Main Committee on August 24 to mark the tenth anniversary of Nepal’s constitution in a dignified and widespread manner.
The Constitution of Nepal, 2072, was proclaimed by the Constituent Assembly on September 20, 2015, following decades of struggle and sacrifice by the Nepalese people.
While original plans for the decennial anniversary included special programs such as discussions, debates, and interactions concerning the constitution’s implementation, achievements, and challenges, these events have been affected by recent tragic losses of life and property nationwide.
Despite these challenges, Constitution Day and National Day will be commemorated through programs organized at provincial and local levels, focusing on the historical significance, importance, and fundamental aspects of the constitution.
