NEA Cuts Power Supply to 18 More Industries Over Unpaid Dues

Saturday, 25 October 2025

The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has cut off power supply to 18 additional industries for failing to clear long-standing dues related to dedicated and trunk line services. The move follows similar action taken earlier against six major industrial firms.

According to NEA spokesperson Rajan Dhakal, the industries whose electricity connections were terminated on Friday night include Panchakanya Steel Industries, Shyam Plastic Industries, Goenka Foods (Rupandehi) Ltd, Cosmos Cement Industries, SR Steel Industries, Panchakanya Plastic Industries, Bhalwari Automatic Factory, Bishal Cement Industries Ltd, Jagdamba Synthetic Textiles Ltd, Everest Rolling Mill, Gharana Foods, Butwal Cement Company Ltd, Nigale Cement Ltd, Siddhartha PET Plast (Pvt) Ltd, Himal Iron and Steel Industries, Tribeni Synthetic Yarn Industries, and Sona Minerals and Oils (Pvt) Ltd.

Earlier, the NEA had disconnected pothe wer supply to Jagadamba Steel, Reliance Spinning Mills, Shivam Cement, Ghorahi Cement, Arghakhanchi Cement, and Tribeni Spinning Mills for the same reason.

The total outstanding dues of the affected industries exceed Rs 8 billion, Dhakal said. Some companies have begun clearing payments in installments, while others have moved to legal channels disputing NEA’s claims-arguing that they never used dedicated or trunk lines.

The NEA had issued a public notice on September 28, directing industries to clear dues within 21 days. The authority stated that the disconnections were carried out in accordance with the Electricity Tariff Collection Rules, 2078 BS.
