Deurali Secondary School in Bardibas Municipality–1 has been officially declared the first digital school in the Mahottari district, marking a significant step toward enhancing students’ access to modern education technology.
Speaking at a program held on Sunday, Bardibas Mayor Prahlad Kumar Chhetri said the initiative would help transform the perception that community schools in Madhes lag in quality education. “This move will indeed send a positive message across the Madhes,” he said while inaugurating digital boards installed in all classrooms.
The school currently provides education to around 1,200 students from early childhood level up to Grade 12. In addition, about 200 students are pursuing diploma-level courses under the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) in Civil Engineering, Survey Engineering, and Forestry.
According to Principal Kumar Ghimire, all classes will now be conducted using digital tools, with teachers trained in digital instruction. “Students who miss a class will have access to recorded materials to review lessons at their convenience,” he said.
The school employs 26 staff members, including permanent, temporary, relief quota, early childhood development, and municipal teachers. Despite the rising number of secondary-level students, Principal Ghimire noted that only two teachers are currently assigned to teach at that level, underscoring the need for more faculty even as the school embraces digital learning.
