Tuesday, 31 December 2024

More than 1.140 million foreign tourists visited Nepal in 2024. According to data as of this morning, a total of 11,047,024 tourists entered Nepal in one year, said the Nepal Tourism Board.

This is the first year Nepal has welcomed the highest number of tourists after the coronavirus pandemic. Board Director Marin Raj Lamichhane said on average 3,000 tourists enter Nepal every day. The arrival of tourists had increased by more than 14 percent in 2024 as compared to 2023.

Similarly, 1.197 million foreign tourists visited Nepal in 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic, which started in early 2020, brought the arrival of tourists to a standstill until 2022.
As per the last six-month data from the United Nations World Tourism Organisation, Nepal's post-COVID tourism has revived by 96 percent.

The arrival of tourists in Nepal increased due to the Nepal Premier League, Global Buddhist Summit, International Balloon Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, and other festivals.
