Police have arrested five individuals for their alleged involvement in incidents of arson and vandalism during the Gen Z Uprising that took place on September 8 and 9.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Pushkar Bogati at the Makwanpur District Police Office, Punam Thakur (27) and Pramod Mahato (27) of Barathwa Municipality-1, Sarlahi, and Sagar Ghatane (43), also known as Rom Bahadur Ghatane, of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-8, were taken into custody for allegedly vandalizing and setting fire to the Bagmati Provincial Assembly Secretariat building and the District Traffic Police Office.
Similarly, Sujan Adhikari (36) and Surendra Magar (35), both from Hetauda, were arrested for allegedly setting fire to the house of Sushil Paudel (45) of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-11, Nawalpur.
The suspects are currently under investigation. The Makwanpur District Court has granted permission to keep them in custody for further inquiry, DSP Bogati informed.
