The four-day Chhath festival, dedicated to the worship of the Sun God, concluded this morning with devotees across the country offering Argha (holy offering) to the rising Sun.
The festival, which began on Saturday, reached its climax on Sunday evening with the main puja and concluded today amid great devotion and celebration. Rivers, ponds, and lakes across Nepal, including those in the Kathmandu Valley, witnessed large gatherings of worshippers performing the concluding rituals.
The festival was observed with particular grandeur in the Mithila region, including the districts of Mahottari, Dhanusha, Siraha, and Saptari, where devotees performed traditional rituals along the banks of ponds, rivulets, and lakes.
Marking the spirit of truth, non-violence, and compassion, Chhath is regarded as a festival that promotes goodwill, faith, and social harmony, bringing together people from all backgrounds to worship the setting and rising Suns.
Devotees observed strict fasting throughout the festival, abstaining even from water on the main day, Kartik Shukla Sasthi. Many also performed pujas to honor their ancestors and to welcome Goddess Sasthi.
According to religious belief, offering Argha to the Sun helps dispel diseases and brings prosperity, longevity, and happiness to the family.
The Chhath celebrations concluded peacefully across the country with thousands of devotees expressing gratitude and seeking blessings for health and harmony.
