Six people have died and six others sustained serious injuries in a jeep accident that took place today at Kattike, in Kummayak Rural Municipality–3 of Panchthar district, along the Tamor Corridor.
According to the District Police Office, Panchthar, the jeep (registration number Me 1 Ja 3055) was heading to Dharan from Taplejung when it met with the fatal accident.
Police Inspector Rupesh Tamang said the injured have been airlifted and taken to the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan for treatment. Personnel from the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force jointly carried out the rescue operation.
The cause of the accident is yet to be determined, police said.
