The government has decided to provide Rs 1 million each to the families of those killed during the Gen-Z protests that took place on September 8 and 9, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel announced today.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held earlier today approved the decision, which also includes an additional Rs 500,000 for each victim’s family to cover death rituals, food, and transportation costs.
However, the government clarified that this assistance will not be provided to inmates or juvenile offenders who were killed while attempting to escape from jails or juvenile reform centers during the unrest.
