A Koseli Ghar (gift house) has been officially launched in Bethanchowk Rural Municipality, Kavrepalanchowk, under the Women Empowerment Programme. The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Social Development of Bagmati Province and the Bethanchowk Rural Municipality.
The facility was inaugurated on Sunday by Bagmati Province’s Minister for Social Development, Kanchanchandra Bade, during a formal ceremony. On the occasion, Minister Bade pledged continued support for the effective management and promotion of the Koseli Ghar.
He expressed confidence that the operation of the Koseli Ghar would play a significant role in fostering entrepreneurship and contributing to the economic empowerment of women in the region. The provincial government, he said, is committed to working with local governments to help market locally produced goods.
Support under the programme includes entrepreneurship training, seed funding, procurement of local products from women’s groups, and operational support for the Koseli Ghar.
To date, 110 women have undergone entrepreneurship training, leading to the formation of two women's entrepreneur groups. Each group has received Rs 100,000 in seed capital to start their ventures. Chairperson of Bethanchowk Rural Municipality, Bhagawan Adhikari, highlighted that the Koseli Ghar was introduced as part of a broader initiative to promote women’s economic independence through entrepreneurship.
The Koseli Ghar currently houses a variety of locally made products, including soaps, flour made from indigenous grains, apples, eco-friendly plates made from tree leaves (duna and tapari), mats, bamboo crafts, and other items.
